RECORD FOR PAKISTAN
Pakistan have scripted themselves into the history books as Misbah-ul-Haq men’s recorded the worst start to a one-day international innings when they were reeling at 1-4 in the fourth over during their humiliating defeat against the West Indies on Saturday in Christchurch. Chasing the target of 310, opener Nasir Jamshed, veteran batsman Younis Khan and Haris Sohail failed to score even a single run as they fell prey to Jerome Taylor’s deliveries.
Opener Ahmed Shehzad followed them shortly as he was caught behind by Lendl Simmons off Jason Holder’s delivery. Pakistan were reeling at one for the loss of four wickets in the fourth over before Umar Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood provided some relief to the collapsing batting order. Previously, minnows Canada held the record for the worst ODI start as they were 4-4 against Zimbabwe in Port-of-Spain in 2006.
Later shame relieving innings from Sohail Maqsood(50) and Umar Akmal(59), though not enough for Pakistan from losing the match to west Indies.As they lost the match by huge margin of 150 runs. Jerome Taylor and Andre Russel bagged 3 wicket each and Benn adjudged with 2 wickets.
Earlier, batting first West Indies got to a lenient start as they got a slow start as Smith and Gayle went for cheaply ,
Darren Bravo retired hurt for 49. Dinesh Ramdin played an accelerating inning of 51(43) and Lendl Simmons 50(46), the duo accelerates the West Indian innings to better run rate. But cracking wrap was unfinished untill Darren Sammy 30(28) and swashbuckling 42(13) 3 x 4's 4 x 6's from Andre Russel.
