New Zealand Vs Scotland

NZ  BEAT SCOTLAND BY 3 WICKETS

New Zealand won the toss and choose to field, letting Scotland give them a chaser.
Scotland was not at all in a good position as there both openers fell quickly all thanks to
superb swing bowling from Tim Southee and  Trent Boult .

Scotland inning was going nowhere as they were reduced to 4-12 at the end of fifth over.
Until Matt Machan 56(79) and Richie Berrington  50(80) rescued Scotland from a disaster.
It was not sufficient enough as the lower order was wrapped up quickly by
Daniel Vettori  3-24(8.2 overs). And finally the Scotland dangling inning came to rest at 142-10(36.2 overs).

New Zealand bowled exceptionally well,  Southee 08-3-35-2 , Boult 06-1-21-2, Vettori  8.2-1-24-3 and Corey Anderson 05-1-18-3.

In a  World cup where runs were flowing like an ocean, Scotland made sure that NZ don't get it easily. NZ lost wickets at regular interval.A cameo from Kane Williamson 38(45) and
Grant Elliott  29(31)  helped NZ to prevent a defeat from non-test playing side at home.
In a hard fought battle of  run chase NZ finally made it in the 24.5 overs as they reached 146-7 to beat Scotland by 3 wickets in hand and with 151 balls remaining.

Scotland made it hard for  NZ as Iain Wardlaw 9.5-0-57-3 and Josh Davey 7-0-40-3  fought hard to make NZ tremble at the middle. But overall it was a low scoring as well as second successful run chase of this world cup.

Trent Boult of New Zealand was adjudged Man of the Match for his superb bowling to reduce Scotland to lowest score at this world cup batting first.
